Alkionides Charity Lunch

Saturday 6th July, Alkionides Charity Lunch

On Saturday 6th July, we hosted and sponsored a lunch in support of Alkionides charity. Alkionides is a charity that supports low-income families and their children from Cyprus undergoing specialist medical treatment in UK hospitals, otherwise not available in their home country. The charity works in close co-operation with welfare services and relies on volunteers who selflessly dedicate their time and effort in order to help families facing severe financial and medical hardship.

On Saturday friends and supporters of the charity participated in its annual 10km walk around central London and Hyde Park, ending at The Windermere Hotel & The Pimlico Grid!

Our brilliant team in the kitchen put on a delicious feast to feed and water all the hungry walkers and support the charity!

The event started off with Pimm’s and Lemonade and a selection of crostini canapés with smoked salmon remoulade, goats cheese & red onion chutney and other various bites including avocado houmous.

We then enjoyed a number of other summer salads and hot dishes: new potato, bacon and spring onion salad, tiger prawn chilli and garlic skewers, meatballs with tomato sauce and a feta crumble, roasted squash and red onion salad, crispy calamari… to just name a few!

We rounded off the event with our chef’s delicious panna cotta and a wonderfully refreshing and beautifully presented fresh fruit salad.

We were delighted to be able to put on such a wonderful feast for our walkers, and to be supporting such an important cause that is close to our hearts.
